Why is my earnings balance negative on the Wagestream app?

The Earnings tile on the Track page shows what your employer has reported as your earnings in real-time.

If you see a negative number (like the example below), it usually means your employer reported an absence, such as:

  • Sick leave
  • Unpaid leave
  • Maternity or paternity leave

This lowers your balance because these types of leave usually can’t be streamed. You can only stream wages from regular working hours.

Don’t worry! You’ll still get paid for any paid leave (like sickness) on your normal payday—you just can’t stream those earnings early.

Haven’t Been Off Work?

If the negative balance seems wrong, or if you’re back at work and still seeing this issue, you'll need to talk to your employer. Wagestream can’t edit your reported earnings.

Important: Some employers report absences late, meaning it could take up to 30 days (or more) for your balance to update after your leave.
